When remodelling and redesigning jewellery for our a whole host of reasons why people opt to remake a piece into a new design, most commonly into a bespoke ring. In some cases it’s just because people don’t like the piece that sits in front of them and it’s just collecting dust sitting in a tree box. When my client wanted me to make this bespoke diamond ring my client was rather matter of fact about the redesign it’s not until we actually began the process and started designing the piece she realised how sentimental to her the pieces were. She wanted to celebrate sentimental rings and the memories they reminded her of but in the new form that complimented her own style and personality.
Sometimes when client knows they want a remodel or jewellery redesign they can be extremely open to the concept and the style, but this can prove to be a difficulty because where do you start? I personally love a good Pinterest board which illustrates the huge variety of options open to people. After honing down pieces that she liked, I got a better understanding of her style but also the pieces that she didn’t like. That’s when I could get the proper designing underway.
Checking the Diamonds Fit in the wax of the contemporary gold and diamond bespoke ring
This ring redesign In essence plays with form and shape focusing on the largest diamond. The smaller diamonds melee surrounded large diamond asymmetrically in a thread and grain setting style to contrast against the clean lines of a rubber over set central diamond. When I handed over the finished ring the client was not only delighted by the design itself and seeing it in its three-dimensional glory but also very surprised as to the quality of the diamonds. When I get given pieces to redesign and remodel I have normally been well loved which generally means, lets be frank, dirty. Diamonds love the oils in the skin but sadly makes all the sparkle dull, as soon as jewels are cleaned they make quite a differenc. Naturally when I make a bespoke ring everything is clean and spotless upon the finished presentation to my clients. What was a casual bespoke jewellery remodel turned in to an emotive sentimental ring which my client can wear all the time.
