Colourful Scorpio Birthstones For Bespoke Jewellery

Scorpio people are lucky as all of the Scorpio birthstones are so bright and colourful.  Their Primary birthstones are citrine and golden topaz.  But with all birthstones there are lesser known alternatives for a Scorpio.  We tell you about a few here which also make great inspiration for bespoke jewellery.  

Scorpio is your star sign if you were born between October 23rd and November 22nd.  This is a great concept to find a personalised gift or a way to create customised jewellery or unique bespoke jewellery. Scorpio’s main characteristics are related to power and self-control, and they tend to take leadership positions, being great at motivating others and demanding respect. Often secretive and mysterious, Scorpios are also clever, focused, ambitious and competitive. They also never give up; and are rarely or afraid of danger when it gets in the way of their aims. Because of their determination, Scorpios can also be quite impulsive and have a quick temper, or be fast to take offence – they are very passionate and have a sharp tongue, and sometimes this gets the better of them. In Greek mythology, Scorpio came about when Zeus placed a Scorpion in the sky in give it immortality, in reward for stinging Orion.  

 

The zodiac birthstones for Scorpio are Aquamarine, Beryl, Obsidian, Hematite, Ruby gemstones, Jasper, and Amethyst gemstones as the talismanic gemstone.  

Aquamarine Gemstone

Aquamarine is the primary stone, and the traditional stone of October as well as a Scorpio Birthstone. A blue variety of Beryl, Aquamarine gemstone embodies all things connected to the sea; it is both exhilarating and calming, and apt for Scorpio, a water sign. Beryl more generally is the name of the group of minerals believed to bring lightness and cheer, greatly needed by the serious-headed Scorpio.

Obsidian Gemstone

Obsidian, shiny and black, is a grounding stone thought to absorb negative energy, and Hematite, similar in appearance, is also an earth stone which is beneficial to logic, problem solving, and reasoning skills.  Obsidian is quite a soft gemstone which is why you don't see many pieces of jewellery let alone bespoke jewellery featuring obsidian.

Ruby Gemstone

Ruby, in contrast, is considered the gem of royalty, and has always been a talisman of passion, protection and prosperity, said to bring its owner peace, inner calm and control which is why a Ruby gemstone is regarded as the Planetary stone for a Scorpio as well as Jasper.  Ruby is one of the most robust gemstones us goldsmiths can use in our creations which is why you see so many options in ready to wear jewellery and bespoke jewellery designs.

 

Jasper Gemstone

Jasper, often speckled, is known as a ‘nurturing stone’, said to also bring peace and happiness, and to boost confidence. Jasper can also be found on our UK shores in Scotland for example.  As I'm a UK based jewellery designer and goldsmith I love using a much UK originated items as possible.

Amethyst Gemstone

Amethyst gemstone is a meditative and calming stone, which works to promote calm, balance, and peace. What all the Scorpio birthstones have in common is a tendency to do away with negative energies and suppress negative traits which might come through for members of this star sign, encourage and sense of being grounded, calming thoughts, and feeling centred. Scorpios, tending to be very passionate, sometimes highly-strung, and prone to experiencing extremes of emotion, both good and bad, stand to benefit from these grounding stones.  Amethyst is widely seen in all aspects of jewellery, for me the deeper richer hues are more captivating for my jewellery creations like this contemporary Amethyst and diamond 3 stone as an example of a bespoke jewellery design.

The Scorpio birthstones are also particularly attractive colourful stones in appearance, and any of them, in a piece of jewellery, would be a perfect gift for a Scorpio friend or yourself.
